I haven’t written up my workouts in the past two weeks because frankly, last week I only ran two times. Between a crazy snowstorm that brought 15 inches of snow and ice and finals, I didn’t run much and decided just to combine that week’s workouts with this past week.
12/8 – 12/14
Monday: Spin class
Tuesday: 4 mile birthday run. The snowstorm was starting and I didn’t wear my watch – it was so incredibly peaceful. It was one of those runs where everything felt right. Except for the fact that I locked myself out of the house without my phone…luckily the door was unlocked when I got home!
Saturday: 4.5 miles on a beautiful sunny day. I worked in 2 (.6 mile) hill repeats, which felt great until I came down the hill the second time and my IT band started bothering me. I planned to do more but didn’t want to push it so I just wandered around town. The conditions weren’t very good with the ice and snow on the sidewalks, but it reminded me of running on the trails.
Weekly total: 8.5 miles
12/15 – 12/21
Tuesday: 4 miles easy on the treadmill. 38:20.
Wednesday: 2 miles of intervals on the treadmill. I hoped to do more but I was dealing with a nasty side stitch and gave in.

Thursday: 4 miles on the treadmill. I just couldn’t get into it this day. I almost got into a groove after mile 1 but my grandma scared the crap out of me and I almost fell off…I almost gave up multiple times but kept on going.
Saturday: 6 miles of 10:1 intervals on the treadmill. As much as I hate walking, sometimes 10:1s are really great for me. I felt awesome and ran a low 9 pace during my 10 minutes of running. I planned to go outside, but I woke up feeling sick so I didn’t want to go out in the cold. I almost didn’t run but I was thankful I did because it felt so good.
Weekly miles: 16
Total miles since 2/16 (when I started keeping track): 507.37
This week was rough until Saturday, when I really felt like myself while I was running again. I started off the week running in my Ghost 6’s and my IT band immediately started hurting. I’m giving up on those shoes for now because my body does not like them. Saturday really put me in the frame of mind of a runner again. I hoped to get up earlier Sunday morning to run before our family Christmas gathering, but I slept in a little. I can’t be mad with 16 miles this week though, it’s the most I’ve had since my injury. And over 500 miles since starting running makes me a happy camper!
How was your week of running? Did anyone race this weekend?
Congrats on 500 miles! I used to keep really good track of my mileage but I slacked off during the first half of the year. I’ve done that treadmill interval workout before! I found it on Pinterest. I had a so-so week of running. Some runs I felt great, others I couldn’t get into.

Thank you! If I think back to all my mileage in high school, this makes it over 1,000! It’s pretty cool to think about.

I haven’t ran in forever! Coming back from injury is frustrating because I’m basically starting all over again. Take care of that IT band!!

Ugh I feel the same way. This last month and a half has really just been a rebuilding phase. I hope you’re feeling better and able to start running soon 🙂 Have a great Christmas Courtney!

Before I was a runner, I never understood why people would run in the snow, but now I agree that running in falling snow is super fun. Great job on reaching the 500 mile mark!

Running in the snow so is! Except for when it’s pelting your face! Normal people would think of wearing glasses…but not I. And thank you! 🙂
