Lake Placid, NY + Workouts 4/20 – 4/26

I must say, after the week I had the last weekend of April was a great one! My mom visited Plattsburgh for the first time since she helped me move in. Her visit couldn’t have come at a better time. Seeing her always motivates me to make it through the hard weeks in school. Only three more weeks until the semester is over!

On Saturday we took a trip to Lake Placid, NY. Lake Placid was the home to the 1932 and 1980 winter olympic games. We took a ride to the top of the tallest ski jump which was just a little frightening!

I can’t imagine the fear of standing up here with a pair of skis on!

I was bummed that we couldn’t find any giant olympic rings, but I did get to stand on a real Olympic Podium. I assume it’s from the 1980 games.


We also hit up the Herb Brooks ice rink in the Olympic Center, home of the “miracle on ice” from the 1982 games. I love the movie and the story, so it was so cool to be there!




Of course, I couldn’t leave Lake Placid without finding a bobsled to get in. I think I found my new career path…



M. came for dinner and it was about perfect. I was incredibly nervous for him to meet my mom but it went really well! It was sad to see him go knowing that next weekend is our last weekend together before the big move…

Workouts 4/20 – 4/26

Last week was an interesting week workout wise. 2 of my runs felt horrible and hard and I was so worried for my half marathon yesterday. I ate like crap all week thanks to a lot of stress from school, so I was very worried. Spoiler alert: it was great!

Monday: 2 miles (19:30) and leg weights

Tuesday: Ab and arm weights, 50 lb squats

Wednesday: 2 (awful, awkardmiles, ab weights and 50 lb squats

Thursday + Friday: Rest

Saturday: 3 miles at Fleet Feet. It didn’t feel too great, and I struggled. However I really love the ladies who come run with me each week. They’ve made so much progress and I can’t wait to do a half marathon with them in May!

Sunday: 13.22 miles – Plattsburgh Half Marathon! Recap will be up tomorrow. Quick recap: I PR’d, felt wonderful and strong for the first 10.5 miles, and am still so happy I could cry happy tears.
